Mr Cunningham sails between Lizard Island and Cairncross Island
5th August 1820
On this day, 5th August 1820, Allan Cunningham was at sea, travelling between Lizard Island to Cairncross Island, when he accompanied Phillip Parker King on his third survey of the Australian coast.
Robert Heward wrote:
On 5th of August they took leave of Endeavour River, and anchored the following day at Lizard Island, where Mr Cunningham took advantage of the detention of the vessel, and made such a collection as the island and his limited time allowed. 1
