Mr Cunningham sailed toward Rodds Bay

29th May 1819

On this day, 29th May 1819, Allan Cunningham heads toward Rodds Bay while accompanying Phillip Parker King on his second circumnavigation to survey coastal Australia onboard HMS Mermaid.

Robert Heward wrote:

On the 30th, Captain King anchored in Rodd’s Bay, on the shores of which Mr Cunningham detected many plants that he had observed on the north coast in the last voyage; but which had been originally detected in the Gulf of Carpentaria and elsewhere, by Mr Brown. 1
