Lieut-General Darling arrives in the Colony

17th December 1825

While Allan Cunningham was away from Parramatta, exploring and collecting in the vicinity between the Wellington Valley and the Cudgegong headwaters, a change of Governors took place back in Sydney.

Lieutenant-General Darling arrived in Port Jackson on 17th December 1825, on the “Catherine Stewart Forbes” replacing Sir Thomas Brisbane who had sailed for England sixteen days earlier.

Allan had become ill during his journey and recuperated at his home in Parramatta during January and February 1826 1
